Lead with the essentials
State your organisation’s name, charitable purpose and location. Name the funding area that seems relevant and describe the work in plain English.
Explain who the work supports, where it happens and the practical need it addresses. Keep the opening concise enough to scan.
Describe the request
Say what funding would enable. If the amount, budget or timing is not yet settled, explain that instead of presenting false precision.
Distinguish the direct work from overheads, wider organisational activity or costs already committed.
End with a clear question
Ask whether the work appears to fit the Trust’s current policy and what information or process should follow. Include the best contact details for a response.
