Consent is a process
A signed form is not the whole of informed consent. People should understand where material may appear, who may see it and that declining will not affect their access to support.
Consider whether consent can be withdrawn and what happens once material has been published or shared.
Use only what is needed
Remove details that do not serve the purpose. Changes to names may not protect someone if place, family or unusual circumstances still make them recognisable.
For high-risk work, including domestic violence support, the safest story may be one that does not identify an individual at all.
Be accurate about imagery
Illustrative photographs should not be presented as real beneficiaries, grantees or outcomes. Captions and surrounding copy must make the distinction clear.
The images on this website are original illustrative images and do not depict people or organisations funded by the Trust.
